Golden Rule was founded by Greg Borgeson. Greg started working in pest control in January of 1976. He worked for large corporations for 30 years in the pest industry. At the end of his corporate world, he came to the ultimate realization that it was all about dollars, and not about the customers. He found that he differed in this aspect, that he tried to take care of the customer first, and not the dollars.


In the eyes of Greg, if you take care of the customer first, and not necessarily the dollars, you can't turn off the success. You don't need a ton of advertisement - your customers will do the work for you by referrals.


The reason Golden Rule was founded in 2006 is due to a conversation between Greg and his prior employers VP. They couldn't come to terms in different opinions, Greg viewed customer satisfaction was the number one priority, whereas they viewed it as they had an infinite supply of customers due to the large marketing budget for advertisement. Greg more or less believed if they cut that budget in half, and instead invested in customer retention, they wouldn't need to market as such. There was no customer retention efforts at the time, instead they would view it as "one less problem customer, we will get a new one". Greg disagreed 100%, and turned in his resignation.


Greg parted ways with them and went to pave his own path, thus Golden Rule Pest, Termite, & Weed Control operating as "taking care of the customer, as you(our team) would take care of yourself."


To this day, Golden Rule still operates under these values. We will put forth 100% of effort to do our best to retain our current customers, and alleviate any issues they are experiencing.
