How To Identify

  • Reddish-Brown in color
  • Range between 1  1/4" - 2  1/8" in length
  • Dual dark circular pattern on head / Lighter figure 8 on head

Life Cycle, Habitats, & Diet

  • American Roaches are the largest species of roach in North America
  • Often called a "Waterbug"
  • Life cycle from egg to an adult is roughly 600 days. Once they reach the adult stage they can survive another estimated 400 days
  • Often feed on organic decaying material
  • Typically live in moist, shady areas, but also often frequent commercial areas such as stores and restaurants
  • Can pose a health hazard due to cross contamination from human waste/sewage
