Bed bug infestations are really bad right now. We received a call from a gentleman; we'll call him Max, asking us to remove bed bugs from his home.
Max's home had a significant infestation. When lifting and checking under the mattress, bed bugs covered it. All of the living room furniture had bed bugs, especially in the crevices and folds (seen in the picture below). The bed bugs were living in the walls of the home.
Bed bugs are small, flat, brownish-red parasitic insects that feed on the blood of sleeping people and animals. While they aren't known to carry disease, they can cause itching and loss of sleep. They travel from person to person, usually through belongings.
How did we get rid of the bed bugs in Max's home? Since the bed bugs are in the walls, we had to drill holes in the walls to apply the treatment. A small hole is drilled every two feet at eye level, and then one hole by the baseboard in each wall. Treatment is also applied to all the mattresses and furniture. Crossfire is the treatment used, and it is applied as a fine mist. It kills bed bug adults, nymphs, and eggs.
The Crossfire treatment is safe for humans and their pets as long as they wait until the product is dry before re-entering the home or laying on a mattress. Because the treatment is applied as a very fine mist, it dries relatively quickly. It usually takes about four hours to dry. Another nice thing about Crossfire is that there is no odor.
Max was pleased with the results - because the bed bugs were gone. If you see signs bed bugs may be in your home, contact us for an inspection.
